After along week of lectures my head was spinning on Friday evening. As I made my way home for the weekend I thought that I would dip my foot in some eco-therapy, a topic which has been heralded as a stress reliver in recent times. So as I hopped off the train I dropped everything and immersed myself in my surroundings for a few hours. No phone, no music just myself and my surroundings.
I set off on a brisk walk which totalled about 1 hour. However, the benefits were immeasurable. Before this walk my head was stuffed with ifs and buts and buts, while my energy levels were non-existent. Afterwards I was full of energy and an assignment due next Friday seemed achievable compared to one hour previously.
I have no doubt that I will delve into this form of therapy more often when I feel run down with everyday life. There is also no doubt that if everybody takes part in some form of exercise on a daily basis, even just a thirty minute walk life would feel so much easier. In a day and age where we are all engrossed in social media it can feel as if the world is caving in around us, however this is not the case. My advice is to drop that mobile phone and forget about everybody else for just one hour every couple of days. As in reality the most important person in your life is you.
